A new emergency and crises warning has been issued regarding dangerous behaviors outside and inside the house during rain and thunderstorms.
The National Authority for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management in the UAE, in addition to the Civil Defense of the Ministry of Interior, has warned of several actions that all residents must avoid and not commit while they are outside the house in cases of heavy rain, thunderstorms or floods.
A list of those acts and behaviors that are prohibited when outside the home:
First: Using the telephone or the radio in the event of being in open areas because it is considered one of the means of attracting lightning, due to the electromagnetic waves it produces.
Second: All individuals should avoid touching metals, electrical appliances and telephones outside.
Third: It is forbidden for individuals to use water taps or use any water connected to the plumbing system, because thunder can sometimes strike wires and pipes.
Fourth: Not to stand under tall and single trees, as well as electricity poles or communication poles.
And not to use mobile phones except when absolutely necessary, especially during thunderstorms, and to use the fixed phone for emergency if you are in an open place, and pay attention that the use of mobile or wireless phones is safe inside the house and should not be used outside.
Fifth: Refrain from walking near beaches or areas of flowing water, areas of dams and areas of ponds.
Sixth: Refrain from trying to restore the electricity when it is cut off, and it is best to contact the concerned authorities in order to request assistance.
Seventh: Quickly find a safe area, and stay away from electric power lines during rain.
Eighth: Staying away from areas of flowing water and areas of wadis flow.
Ninth: Avoid leaving the house except when the situation is calm, follow the weather forecast carefully, and ensure the safety of family members.
Warnings about the occurrence of rain and lightning while driving the vehicle:
First: The weather changes must be monitored and followed up, through the weather forecast via the radio.
Second: Be careful during sudden weather changes that occur on the road.
Third: The obligation to reduce speed, as well as the obligation not to pass other vehicles on the road:
Fourth: Commitment to turn on the lights.
Fifth: Avoid traveling by car in flooded areas, to avoid flooding water disasters and not to lose control of the vehicle.
Sixth: Obligation to leave a sufficient distance between vehicles on the road.
Seventh: Preventing the use of warning signs, except in cases of warning only.
Eighth: The use of front and rear windshield wipers.
Ninth: To stop the vehicle off the road if it is necessary to stop it permanently.
Tenth: Avoid the vehicle crossing the flowing water if it exceeds the height of the knees during the period of heavy rain.
Instructions and warnings for those in homes during rain and lightning strikes:
First: Stay inside the house and not leave it except in the case of extreme necessity.
Second: stay away from glass windows and doors completely.
Third: Preventing children from playing outside the house.
Fourth: Disconnecting the power supply, as well as closing the water network during hurricanes.
Fifth: It is forbidden to take a shower during a storm, for fear that the sanitary connections to the toilets will cause electrical charges from the lightning strike.
Sixth: There is no fear of using mobile and wireless phones inside the house, because they are safe in this case.
