Procedures for compensating “private” employees for work during Eid.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has confirmed the right of all workers and employees working for institutions and establishments affiliated with the private sector to obtain official holidays with full pay, on official holidays determined by the state, explaining that if the working conditions of any facility affiliated with the private sector require the employment of any of its workers or employees during the official holidays, the employer shall compensate the worker, with another alternate day of rest, for each day he works during the holiday.

In response to the inquiries of many visitors to its website and its official pages on social media, the ministry indicated that Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021 regarding the regulation of labor relations also allowed the employer to compensate the worker and the employee who works during the holiday, by paying his wages for that. The day is according to the prescribed wage for normal working days, plus an increase of no less than 50% of the basic wage for that day, in place of the alternate rest day.
