Eng. Abdullah Al Ali, Executive Director of the Licensing Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, said that the authority issued driving licenses immediately to international participants holding “Expo residency”, through procedures that do not take more than a few minutes. The authority also allocated an office to provide this service and answer inquiries on the “Expo site” 2020 Dubai.
Eng. Abdullah Al Ali also stated that the authority has exempted Expo residency holders, who have driving licenses from their countries, from the training hours, simplified their procedures by allowing them to apply for driving tests directly, and issue a driver's license to those who passed the examination on the same day.
Al Ali explained that the authority decided to reduce training hours from 20 to 10 hours for participants who do not have previous leadership experience (from the category of diplomats), in addition to expediting their training procedures, and completing them within a maximum of five working days.
Visitors who hold visit visas and who have driving licenses from countries whose driver’s licenses are recognized, can drive with their licenses in the country without the need to replace them or obtain an international license, at a time when international participants, who hold residency in Dubai from the mentioned countries, can exchange their driving licenses They were taken from the authority’s office at the Expo 2020 site.
It is worth noting that the list of countries whose driving licenses are recognized is five Gulf countries that include the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar, in addition to the United States and Canada, and 34 European countries, according to what was published by Emirates Today newspaper.
