Public Prosecution: A fine of 10 million dirhams is the penalty for violators on social media

The State Public Prosecution clarified, through a film material that it published today on its accounts on social media, the crime of providing illegal content and refraining from removing it.

The Public Prosecution indicated that according to Article 53 of Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 regarding combating rumors and cybercrime, which stipulates that anyone who uses the website shall be punished by a fine of no less than 300,000/ three hundred thousand dirhams and not more than /10,000,000/ ten million dirhams. Or an electronic account in committing any of the following acts: 1. Storing, making available or publishing illegal content, and he did not take the initiative to remove it or prevent access to this content within the period specified in the orders issued to him and stipulated in this Decree-Law.

2. Refuses to comply, in whole or in part, with one of the orders issued to him and stipulated in this Decree-Law, without an acceptable excuse.
