On the other hand, the total volume of non-oil foreign trade between the two countries recorded about $ 26.3 billion in 2019, and during the first half of 2020 non-oil foreign trade between the two countries exceeded $ 11 billion, according to the UAE Minister of Economy.

The two ministers discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation between the UAE and the United States in a number of areas of mutual interest, with a focus on innovation-related sectors and activities, especially since the UAE is one of only two countries around the world that signed a memorandum of understanding on innovation with the US Department of Commerce.

Bin Touq and the Commercial Representative of Leighizer discussed the close commercial relationship between the two countries. The discussion focused mainly on the progress the UAE is making in protecting intellectual property associated with commercial activities.

Bin Touq stressed the importance of cooperation to explore new horizons for the partnership between the two countries during the next stage, especially in the areas of health care, food security, space, energy and artificial intelligence.

For its part, the American side explained that the UAE is the first destination for US exports of products and services in the Middle East, as the value of those exports reached 20 billion dollars during 2019, supporting nearly 120,000 job opportunities in the United States, stressing keenness to strengthen the partnership and explore new opportunities in Areas of trade, economics and investment.

The American side expressed its appreciation for the continuous progress made by the UAE in implementing open investment and economic policies, as well as the efforts of the UAE to enhance regional economic prosperity.
