The system of the new insurance program against unemployment:

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has entered into an agreement with the insurance pool, represented by the Dubai Insurance Company, to launch the new insurance program system against unemployment, and the program obligates workers in the private and federal sectors to participate in the system starting from January 1, 2023.

Categories excluded from participation in the unemployment insurance program:

The investor (the owner of the facility in which he works), the domestic worker, the worker with a temporary contract, juveniles under 18 years of age, and the retiree who receives a retirement pension and has joined a new job are excluded from participation in the insurance program.

Sections of unemployment insurance for workers in the UAE:

The insurance is divided into two categories, the first includes those whose basic salary reaches 16,000 dirhams or less, and its insurance premium for the insured worker is set at five dirhams per month (60 dirhams annually). (120 dirhams annually), and the employee can choose the periodicity of paying the insurance premium either annually, semi-annually, quarterly or monthly, bearing in mind that the value of the policy is subject to value-added tax, and the system allows the employee who works on the commission system as well to participate in the system.

The maximum amount of monthly compensation for unemployment

The ministry stated that the maximum value of the monthly compensation is 10,000 dirhams for the first category, and 20,000 dirhams for the second category, where the insurance coverage compensation is calculated on a monthly basis at 60% of the basic salary and for a maximum period of three months for each claim from the date of unemployment.

The insured (the employee) must submit the claim through the multiple claim channels, which are the electronic insurance complex portal, the insurance complex smart application, and the call center of the insurance pool, provided that this is done within 30 days from the date of termination of service.

The period of payment of the compensation value shall not exceed two weeks from the date of the claim as a maximum, and the maximum period of compensation shall be three months for each claim, and it shall be due after 12 consecutive months have passed from the date of participation in the system, provided that the termination of the services of the insured (the employee) is not for a disciplinary reason or his resignation, and the insured's right to claim the value of the compensation shall forfeit in the event he leaves the state or joins a new job
