The Bahraini Public Prosecution officially announced this Thursday, March 26, 2026, the referral of 14 defendants involved in four separate cases to the Higher Criminal Court for espionage and collaboration with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Extensive investigations revealed that the defendants, including fugitives in Iran and a female operative managing subversive social media accounts, formed terrorist cells tasked by the IRGC to monitor and photograph vital and sensitive facilities within the Kingdom of Bahrain. The gathered intelligence and coordinates were transmitted via encrypted applications to facilitate military strikes against the nation.
The Public Prosecution confirmed that the suspects were involved in providing material and technical support to the IRGC, receiving funds to finance hostile operations, and committing high treason by disclosing defense secrets. Furthermore, they were charged with disseminating false news and malicious rumors to incite panic and diminish public morale during the current period of aggression.
The official statement detailed that the female defendant published maps and images of strategic locations with captions encouraging military targeting, while also glorifying terrorist acts against the Kingdom. She also fabricated reports of non-existent casualties to stir fear among citizens and residents.
The Advocate General emphasized the extreme danger of espionage crimes that directly threaten state sovereignty and security. He reaffirmed that the Public Prosecution, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, remains vigilant in tracking and prosecuting those involved in such treacherous activities, stressing that spreading disinformation is as destructive as physical terrorism in destabilizing the country.
