In a decisive response to the current exceptional circumstances, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior has rolled out a comprehensive package of residency facilities.
These measures aim to alleviate the pressure on expatriates and visitors impacted by the regional situation, ensuring their legal status remains secure without additional financial burdens.
Automatic Extension for All Visit Visas
Starting from Saturday, February 28, 2026, all types of entry visit visas that have expired or are nearing expiration will be granted an automatic one-month extension. This process will be handled entirely through the ministry's automated system, eliminating the need for physical visits to Residency Affairs departments. Furthermore, the ministry confirmed a total waiver of all associated fees and fines during this critical period.
Support for Residents Stranded Abroad
Recognizing the challenges faced by residents currently outside Kuwait who have exceeded their permitted period of absence, the ministry has authorized an automatic 3-month leave of absence. This grace period ensures that their residency permits remain valid despite the inability to return on time. Like the visit visa extension, this service is free of charge and processed digitally.
Adaptive Policies for Future Developments
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that these durations are subject to further extensions depending on how the situation evolves. Residents and visitors are encouraged to stay updated through official government channels for any new directives regarding residency status and travel regulations.
