Navigating the complexities of domestic labor relations just got simpler, The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has launched a strategic awareness campaign to clarify the legal boundaries for both employers and domestic workers in Kuwait, This initiative, driven by the Department of Domestic Labor Recruitment, aims to create a transparent environment where everyone knows their rights and obligations.

Key takeaway from the campaign? The first six months are critical, PAM emphasizes that any issues arising during this "warranty period" must be handled through their department, If a worker decides to leave or stop working, employers should contact PAM immediately rather than simply returning the worker to the recruitment office, This ensures the employer’s right to a refund and prevents legal loopholes. Furthermore, transferring a worker to a different employer without official PAM authorization is a major red flag—it voids the warranty and can lead to legal complications.

On the ethical and operational side, the standard employment contract is the ultimate safeguard. It guarantees the worker’s right to privacy and the use of a mobile phone outside working hours. Employers are also reminded that workers cannot be forced to work outside Kuwait without their consent; if they do travel, the employer is legally bound to cover their return expenses.

Financially, clarity is king, PAM advises keeping strict records of monthly wages via bank transfers or signed receipts, Upon the conclusion of the contract, Article 23 of Law No. 68/2015 stipulates an end-of-service indemnity equivalent to one month's salary for every year of service, For those needing immediate assistance, the authority has streamlined the process through its dedicated hotline (24937600), ensuring that legal support is just a phone call away.
