This program aims to manufacture and supply custom-built removable fuel tanks (CCRTs) in collaboration with EPI, a subsidiary of EDGE Group.

The partnership agreement was signed during the fourth edition of "Make in the UAE 2025" by Sherif Hashim Al Hashmi, Chief Operating Officer of Tawazun Council, and Gabriel Simellas, President of Airbus Africa and Middle East, in the presence of Dr. Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of Tawazun Council, and several representatives from both sides.

What distinguishes the CCRT tank is its flexibility and versatility, as it can be used for ground-based refueling operations, as well as long-range missions and air-to-air refueling.

This reflects the commitment of Tawazun Council and Airbus to driving industrial innovation and strengthening national capabilities in the UAE.

This project represents the UAE's drive to enhance its industrial capabilities within global supply chains in the aerospace and defense sectors, through the development and production of mobile, multi-purpose fuel tanks for aircraft cargo compartments.

This will contribute to improving the efficiency of air-to-air refueling and ground support operations, and completing long-range missions.

This initiative falls within the ongoing efforts of the Tawazun Economic Program, one of the Tawazun Council's most prominent strategic tools, which aims to enhance local content and technology transfer in the aerospace and defense sectors.

The project includes the exclusive serial production of this type of fuel tank over the next five years. Airbus Defence and Space will rely on EPI to manufacture and assemble aircraft structures and sub-components using proprietary industrial processing techniques.

Upon completion of the program, EPI will become the sole globally certified supplier of these components, strengthening the UAE's role as a major industrial hub in the aerospace and defense sectors.
