Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has ratified and issued a new law introducing amendments to legislation governing agricultural drainage systems following approval by the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives.

The law includes several administrative and regulatory amendments designed to update existing legal provisions and align them with the current governmental structure.

New terminology has been introduced to replace previous references to ministries officials and departments responsible for agricultural affairs.

The legislation also updates penalties related to violations of the law governing agricultural drainage systems.

Under the amendments offenders may face imprisonment fines or both penalties depending on the nature of the violation and applicable legal provisions.

The law further states that penalties may be doubled in cases involving repeat violations within the legally specified period.

Additional legal definitions have been added to clarify the responsibilities of the ministry the minister and the competent administrative authority.

The amendments establish procedures requiring violators to remove the causes of violations and repair resulting damage within a specified timeframe.

Authorities are also granted the ability to address violations directly in urgent situations or when offenders fail to comply with official notices.

The law grants judicial enforcement authority to designated officials for offences covered by the legislation and within their areas of responsibility.

These officials may inspect agricultural lands and relevant locations while carrying out their duties in accordance with legal procedures.

The law takes effect from the day following its publication in the Official Gazette with relevant authorities responsible for implementation.
