Kuwait has announced four days of official mourning and ordered flags to be flown at half-staff across the country and at its diplomatic missions abroad by directive of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The official announcement stated that the mourning period begins on Sunday and will continue for four days following the death of the late Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

The decision applies to all government institutions within Kuwait as well as Kuwaiti embassies and diplomatic missions overseas throughout the official mourning period.

According to the announcement, the measure was issued by directive of His Highness the Amir as an expression of condolences following the passing of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Officials confirmed that the order takes effect immediately and will remain in force for the full four-day mourning period in accordance with official state procedures.

The announcement concludes by confirming that flags will remain at half-staff in Kuwait and at its embassies abroad during the mourning period in observance of the passing of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
