In a significant move toward legislative modernization, the Kuwaiti Cabinet, chaired by His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, officially approved a draft decree-law amending the 1959 Kuwaiti Nationality Law. This pivotal update aims to streamline the state’s sovereign authority over citizenship matters while maintaining a firm commitment to social and humanitarian standards.

The proposed amendments provide a robust legal framework for granting, withdrawing, or revoking citizenship. ​Diplomatic Stance and Maritime Sovereignty

During the weekly session, the Cabinet also addressed critical foreign policy issues. A formal protest memorandum was delivered to the Iraqi Embassy regarding claims filed at the United Nations that infringe upon Kuwait's maritime sovereignty. The Cabinet urged Iraq to adhere to international law and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, emphasizing the importance of historical bilateral relations and mutual respect for borders.

Coinciding with Kuwait’s 65th National Day and 35th Liberation Day, the Cabinet reviewed the latest military achievements following the Amir’s visit to the Ministry of Defense. Highlights included the inauguration of the Naif Light Ammunition Factory and the strategic empowerment of women within the military ranks. These initiatives are part of Kuwait’s 2025/2030 defense strategy to bolster national security and institutional excellence.
