​In a robust effort to safeguard societal peace and counteract the spread of misinformation, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior has issued a stern warning, asserting its commitment to take strict legal action against anyone involved in spreading or circulating rumors that incite panic among citizens and residents.

Rigorous Monitoring and Security Cooperation

In a statement, Colonel Othman Al-Ghareeb, Director of the Security Media Department at the Ministry of Interior, emphasized that the ministry will absolutely not tolerate any attempts to destabilize public security through fake news. Al-Ghareeb explained that there is an integrated working system and close, continuous cooperation between the Security Media Department and the Criminal Security Sector. This partnership aims to monitor and track any content published across various platforms—be it photos, videos, or unverified information—designed to cause alarm or misrepresent reality.

​Clarification Regarding Vehicle Fire Incident

Colonel Al-Ghareeb cited a recent incident where videos of a normal traffic accident involving a burning vehicle were misinterpreted and shared online as being caused by shrapnel or a missile explosion. The Colonel confirmed that this information is completely false, noting that such natural road incidents are being exploited by some to cause confusion.

The Ministry of Interior renewed its call for the public to exercise caution, urging them not to follow unofficial accounts that promote misleading information. The ministry affirmed that the law will be strictly enforced against anyone contributing to the spread of panic, emphasizing the necessity of obtaining news only from official sources to ensure the safety and stability of the community.
