In a significant security development affecting public utilities, the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy in Kuwait has reported partial power outages resulting from damage to overhead power lines.
According to the official spokesperson for the Ministry, Engineer Fatima Hayat, the temporary outage was caused by falling shrapnel resulting from an operation to intercept drones (UAVs) in the country's airspace.
Engineer Hayat clarified in her statement that the affected areas were concentrated in the southern region of Kuwait, in addition to the overhead lines adjacent to the Sixth Ring Road. The falling shrapnel caused an immediate fluctuation in the electrical grid, leading to an unexpected power outage in several scattered areas.
Immediately following the incident, specialized technical emergency teams rushed to the damaged sites. The Ministry indicated that the teams are currently conducting a comprehensive survey to accurately assess the extent of the damage and are commencing immediate repair and maintenance work. The teams are working on an accelerated schedule to restore power to the affected areas as quickly as possible, while strictly adhering to the highest safety standards and approved technical procedures to ensure no additional risks occur.
Despite this technical disruption, the official spokesperson reassured the public that the overall electricity and water situation remains under full control. She confirmed that the electricity production, water desalination, and transportation systems are functioning at high efficiency, with no signs of production shortfall. The Ministry is monitoring and tracking the situation around the clock to ensure the stability and continuity of services without any new interruptions.
At the conclusion of her statement, the Ministry urged all citizens and residents to verify information and obtain it only from official sources, and to avoid rumors that may spread under such circumstances. It confirmed that it will keep the public updated with any developments immediately, praying to Almighty God to protect the country and its people, and to sustain the blessing of security, safety, and stability for our beloved nation.
