Kuwait’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that it is working to complete the nationalization of jobs within the ministry by the end of 2026, as part of a broader strategy to increase reliance on Kuwaiti national talent.

The ministry said the initiative aims to strengthen the role of qualified Kuwaiti employees and empower national cadres to take on a wider range of responsibilities within the ministry in the coming period.

According to the ministry, significant progress has already been made, with all educational departments having been nationalized, including the Islamic Studies and Technical Guidance sectors.

The completion of nationalization within the educational departments represents an important stage in the ministry’s broader plan, while work continues on the remaining sectors and administrative departments.

The ministry emphasized that the process will continue according to the approved procedures and timeline, with the aim of completing the nationalization of positions across its various departments by the end of the current year.

The move reflects Kuwait’s wider policy of strengthening the participation of national talent in the public sector and creating greater opportunities for qualified Kuwaiti professionals to take on positions that match their skills and experience.

The ministry also highlighted the importance of developing national human resources capable of assuming responsibilities and contributing to the continued development of the Islamic Affairs sector.

The nationalization process is being implemented gradually across the ministry’s different departments, with the authorities following the established procedures for completing the remaining stages.

The announcement is significant because it provides a clear target date for completing the process, particularly after the ministry confirmed that nationalization has already been completed in all educational departments.

During the coming period, the ministry is expected to continue implementing the remaining stages concerning positions currently occupied by non-Kuwaiti employees, in accordance with the applicable regulations and approved procedures.

The initiative ultimately aims to establish a stronger presence of Kuwaiti professionals across the ministry and ensure that national expertise plays a central role in managing its various functions.

According to the ministry, the target is to complete job nationalization by the end of 2026, while all educational departments, including Islamic Studies and Technical Guidance, have already been nationalized.
