Dubai is preparing to launch a new rental initiative designed to make housing payments more flexible by allowing tenants to rent residential units without paying the full annual amount upfront.
The proposed “Rent Now, Pay Later” service is expected to be introduced by the Dubai Land Department in cooperation with a local bank at the beginning of September 2026.
Under the proposed model, the tenant would select a residential property and the participating bank would pay the annual rental value to the landlord. The tenant would then repay the amount to the bank through installments over a period of up to 12 months.
The reported model is based on zero interest for the tenant, potentially reducing the financial pressure associated with paying a full year's rent at once.
The exact mechanism, eligibility requirements, financing procedures, and repayment terms are still being prepared and are expected to be announced officially when the service is launched.
The initiative is part of Dubai's broader efforts to introduce more flexible and innovative solutions within the rental market and provide tenants with additional payment options.
The Dubai Land Department previously launched a “Facilitated Rental” initiative in June, offering different payment arrangements, including monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual payments, along with incentives provided by participating entities.
The new proposed service could represent another step toward reshaping traditional rental payment practices by combining government-backed real estate services with banking solutions.
However, tenants should note that the final terms have not yet been announced. The official launch is expected to clarify eligibility criteria, application procedures, financing requirements, repayment schedules, and the rules governing the relationship between tenants, landlords, and the participating bank.
If implemented in its proposed form, the service could provide tenants with greater flexibility in managing their monthly budgets while allowing landlords to receive the agreed annual rent through the participating financial institution.
The initiative also reflects Dubai's continuing efforts to improve the flexibility and accessibility of its housing market through new financial and digital solutions.
For now, prospective tenants should wait for the official announcement before making decisions based on the proposed service, particularly regarding eligibility and the properties or rental contracts that may be covered.
