He stressed that parking in prohibited areas, whether on internal roads or elsewhere, constitutes a traffic violation and may result in legal action.

Speaking during an interview on Kuwait Radio’s General Programme, Bouhassan explained that measures taken against illegally parked vehicles, including the use of wheel clamps when vehicles obstruct traffic or occupy part of the roadway, are intended to enforce the law and maintain smooth traffic flow and road safety.

Where Is Parking Allowed?

Bouhassan explained that parking is permitted only alongside curbs painted black and white.

Parking alongside grey or unpainted curbs is prohibited, while driving or parking vehicles on sidewalks is also considered a traffic violation subject to legal action.

He noted that Article 1 of the Traffic Law applies the law, as well as its implementing regulations and decisions, to all types of vehicles and to pedestrians and animals using public roads.

Increased Monitoring of Traffic Violations

The General Traffic Department has intensified monitoring of parking violations, vehicles mounting sidewalks and violations occurring at intersections, according to Bouhassan.

He emphasized that public roads belong to everyone and must not be used in a way that obstructs other road users or disrupts traffic movement.

Traffic authorities also respond around the clock to reports and complaints received through the Ministry of Interior’s operations center, in addition to reports submitted through the General Traffic Department’s WhatsApp service.

What Happens When a Vehicle Is Authorized Through Sahel?

Regarding electronic vehicle authorization, Bouhassan explained that vehicle owners can use Kuwait’s Sahel application to authorize another person to drive their vehicle and specify the duration of the authorization.

Traffic violations committed by the authorized driver during the validity period are assigned to that person, who becomes responsible for the resulting legal procedures.

The clarification forms part of the General Traffic Department’s efforts to strengthen compliance with parking regulations and reduce violations that obstruct traffic and affect road safety across Kuwait.
