The Kuwait Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has announced an immediate suspension and cancellation of all commercial flights departing from Kuwait to Iran.
This decision, effective until further notice, comes as a direct response to the current military and political escalations in the region, which have led to the complete closure of Iranian airspace.
Commitment to Aviation Safety
Abdullah Al-Rajhi, the official spokesperson for the DGCA, emphasized that the primary motivation behind this move is the safety of passengers and flight crews. "This measure is in line with the highest international aviation safety standards and follows established global protocols for such exceptional and volatile circumstances," Al-Rajhi stated.
Impact on Global Flight Routes
The suspension is expected to have a ripple effect on other international routes. According to the DGCA, several flights that traditionally utilize Iranian airspace for transit will experience delays or rerouting. Aviation authorities are currently working on restructuring these flight paths to ensure operational safety, which may result in longer travel times for certain destinations.
Ongoing Monitoring and Coordination
The DGCA confirmed that it is monitoring the situation 24/7 in close coordination with both local and international aviation bodies. An official update regarding the resumption of flights will be issued as soon as the security situation stabilizes and the airspace is deemed safe for civilian navigation once again.
