The Ministry of Social Affairs begins an ambitious plan to "Kuwaitize" support (non-supervisory) roles in cooperative societies in coordination with the Public Authority for Manpower, featuring a competitive salary structure to attract citizens.
As part of the state's policy to enhance the presence of national labor in the private and cooperative sectors, sources revealed that the Ministry of Social Affairs will implement a comprehensive plan in July to replace expatriate labor with citizens in vacant support roles across cooperative societies. This initiative, carried out in close cooperation with the Public Authority for Manpower, aims to ensure operational stability while providing high-quality job opportunities for Kuwaiti youth.
The first phase of the project targets four key roles that constitute the backbone of operations in central markets and branches: (Market Manager, Branch Supervisor, Receiving Officer, and Storekeeper). To ensure the success of this initiative and attract the necessary national talent, an agreement has been reached on a salary structure that ensures these roles are competitive.
Incentive Details for Targeted Roles:
Market Manager: An total monthly salary of 1,000 Kuwaiti Dinars has been approved, reflecting the administrative importance and responsibility associated with this role.
Other Roles: Salaries for roles such as Branch Supervisor, Receiving Officer, and Storekeeper have been set between 400 and 500 Kuwaiti Dinars per month.
The sources noted that these salaries are not merely base pay but represent a comprehensive package that includes national labor support (provided by the Authority), as well as other monthly allowances and financial incentives granted by the cooperative societies. This structure increases the financial appeal of these roles and ensures job stability for citizens seeking employment.
This move complements state trends toward reforming the demographic structure and supporting citizen participation in the national economy. Through this coordination with the Public Authority for Manpower, the Ministry of Social Affairs aims to bridge the employment gap in the cooperative sector and nationalize non-supervisory roles that could provide a promising career path for Kuwaiti youth. The Ministry also stressed that cooperative societies must adhere to these plans according to the specified timeline to ensure that services provided to consumers remain uninterrupted.
