The Joint Traffic Safety Committee in Abu Dhabi has officially announced new reductions to the maximum speed limits on several major roads across the emirate, effective from February 9, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and reduce traffic accidents.

According to the committee, the decision aligns with Abu Dhabi’s continuous strategy to improve traffic safety standards and ensure safer driving conditions on high-speed and heavily used road networks.

The announcement detailed that the Abu Dhabi–Al Ain Road (E22) will see adjusted speed limits across multiple sections. From Al Nahda Interchange to Baniyas Interchange, in both directions, the maximum speed limit has been reduced from 160 km/h to 140 km/h.

In addition, the section extending from Baniyas Interchange to just before the Bridges Complex has also been modified in both directions, with speed limits reduced from 140 km/h to 120 km/h.

Furthermore, the committee confirmed that Al Rawdah Road (E30) has been included in the new regulations, with the maximum speed limit reduced in both directions from 120 km/h to 100 km/h, aiming to enhance safety and minimize potential risks along this vital roadway.

The Joint Traffic Safety Committee urged all motorists to strictly adhere to the newly implemented speed limits and to remain attentive to updated traffic signs placed along the affected roads. Authorities emphasized that compliance with traffic laws plays a crucial role in safeguarding lives and maintaining smooth traffic flow.

Officials reiterated that these measures reflect Abu Dhabi’s broader vision of creating a safer and more sustainable transportation environment. Drivers are encouraged to practice responsible driving habits, remain alert at all times, and prioritize safety, particularly on high-speed routes and during peak traffic hours.
