Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced on Saturday that Kuwait International Airport was targeted by several drones in a security incident that prompted the activation of emergency procedures across the country Authorities confirmed that the attack resulted in damage to the airport’s radar system but did not cause any human injuries among airport staff or passengers The incident was handled swiftly by relevant authorities who implemented established emergency response plans designed to ensure the safety of aviation operations and protect critical infrastructure at the airport.
Abdullah Al Rajhi spokesperson for Kuwait’s civil aviation authority told the Kuwait News Agency KUNA that the situation was managed according to the emergency response plan that has been in place since the beginning of the current regional crisis He explained that coordination was carried out among all relevant national authorities to address the incident efficiently and maintain operational stability at Kuwait International Airport Technical teams were immediately assigned to assess the damage affecting the radar system and begin the necessary procedures to ensure the continued safety and efficiency of airport operations.
Earlier on the same day Kuwait had also announced that a separate drone attack involving two unmanned aerial vehicles targeted Ahmad Al Jaber Air Base located in the country The attack resulted in minor injuries to three members of Kuwait’s armed forces and caused material damage in the vicinity of the base The military installation hosts United States forces and is situated near Camp Arifjan a major US military facility in Kuwait which heightened the security significance of the incident and prompted additional precautionary measures by authorities.
Saud Abdulaziz Al Atwan spokesperson for the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense confirmed in an official statement that two hostile drones targeted Ahmad Al Jaber Air Base causing limited material damage around the base perimeter and leaving three military personnel with minor injuries He added that the injured soldiers received immediate medical treatment and their health conditions were reported as stable emphasizing that authorities responded quickly to secure the area and assess the consequences of the attack.
The defense ministry also revealed that Kuwait’s air defense systems had detected seven drones entering monitored airspace since early Saturday morning According to the statement three of those drones were successfully intercepted and destroyed by air defense units while two others fell outside the designated threat zone and therefore did not pose any danger to military facilities or nearby areas The ministry highlighted that these developments demonstrate the readiness of Kuwait’s defense systems and their ability to respond effectively to potential aerial threats while maintaining national security and protecting strategic installations across the country.
