The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced the implementation of new dedicated bus routes totaling 13.1 kilometers across several main streets in the emirate.
This strategic initiative aims to enhance the public transport network and improve operational efficiency, keeping pace with Dubai’s rapid urban and population growth.
According to the approved plan, the total length of bus routes will reach 20 kilometers by the end of 2026, helping reduce travel times, improve traffic flow, and encourage residents and visitors to rely on public transportation instead of private vehicles, promoting sustainability and easing road congestion.
The expansion is part of RTA’s vision to provide sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility solutions, directly linked to goals of reducing carbon emissions and increasing the use of emission-free public transport, reflecting Dubai’s commitment to a smart and eco-friendly urban system.
The plan also includes targeted measures to reduce traffic accident fatalities in Dubai to 1.7 per 100,000 population by the end of 2026, through upgrading road infrastructure, enhancing traffic safety, and applying the latest international standards in route design.
These projects demonstrate Dubai’s dedication to providing an integrated and safe transport network that meets the needs of residents and visitors, enhances quality of life, and solidifies the emirate’s position as a globally recognized smart and sustainable city, fully aligned with Dubai’s vision for a model urban mobility system
