The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has announced a temporary traffic closure on a key lane along Emirates Road, as part of ongoing infrastructure development works aimed at enhancing road efficiency and traffic safety across the country.
According to the official statement, the closure will affect the lane designated for vehicles traveling from the Emirate of Sharjah toward the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, specifically at Bridge No. (7) on Emirates Road. The closure will take effect starting Sunday, December 28, 2025, due to scheduled development and improvement works being carried out on the road.
The Ministry explained that the project forms part of broader efforts to upgrade federal road networks, improve traffic flow, and ensure higher safety standards for all road users. These enhancements are designed to support sustainable infrastructure development and accommodate increasing traffic volumes between the emirates.
To minimize traffic congestion during the implementation period, the Ministry urged motorists coming from Sharjah and heading to Ras Al Khaimah to use alternative routes via Bridge No. (8). This diversion has been carefully planned to maintain smooth traffic movement and reduce potential delays while construction activities are underway.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure stressed the importance of adhering to all traffic instructions and safety guidelines issued by relevant authorities. Drivers are encouraged to remain cautious, comply with posted speed limits, and follow directional signage to ensure the safety of both motorists and on-site work crews.
The Ministry also expressed its appreciation for the cooperation and understanding of road users during the development period, highlighting that such projects are essential for maintaining the efficiency and safety of the UAE’s road infrastructure.
Emirates Road is considered one of the country’s major highways, witnessing heavy daily traffic as it connects multiple emirates. As such, these development works are a necessary step toward improving long-term road performance, supporting economic growth, and enhancing the overall commuting experience across the UAE.
