The Criminal Court in Bahrain has officially sentenced a defendant to life imprisonment for espionage and plotting terror attacks against the Kingdom.
The court ruling confirmed that the individual actively communicated and collaborated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Lebanese Hezbollah.
The Head of the Terrorist Crimes Prosecution stated on Sunday that the convict was found guilty of leaking vital state data to a foreign country.
The judicial authority announced that beside the life sentence all seized electronic equipment and devices used in the crime have been confiscated.
Investigations by the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science revealed that Hezbollah recruited the suspect inside Bahrain.
According to the official investigation the suspect was tasked with sending sensitive photos videos and information to online accounts managed within Iran.
Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported that the intelligence gathered by the convict was intended to harm the nation’s safety and jeopardize innocent lives.
The Public Prosecution immediately initiated a thorough investigation upon receiving the case file and interrogated the suspect who fully confessed to the charges.
Witnesses were formally questioned and technical experts were assigned to review the confiscated digital devices which confirmed the suspect’s involvement.
Following the initial inquiry the Public Prosecution ordered the suspect to be detained and referred him to the High Criminal Court for trial.
The Public Prosecution reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to firmly confronting all actions that target the security and stability of Bahrain.
The official statement concluded that authorities will continue to prosecute anyone involved in incitement or terror activities noting that penalties can reach the death sentence.
