Bahrain’s Interior Minister, First Deputy Prime Minister General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, has emphasized the importance of protecting national unity while addressing security challenges facing the Kingdom.

The minister made the remarks during a joint meeting between Bahrain’s executive and legislative authorities, where officials discussed national efforts to address the consequences of regional developments, strengthen preparedness, and ensure the continuity of essential services.

During his remarks, Sheikh Rashid said that national preparedness was not created as a response to the latest emergency circumstances, but was instead the result of years of planning, coordination, and institutional development.

He also addressed what he described as internal security challenges, stating that protecting national unity had become a key priority in dealing with those developments.

According to the minister, groups he described as “agents of the Iranian Supreme Leader” had been working to establish influence over Bahrain’s Shiite community and had sought to enter national institutions, including the legislative authority. These are claims attributed to the minister and reflect his characterization of the security situation.

The minister said that these developments required what he described as a firm response aimed at protecting society’s security and national institutions.

His comments came as Bahraini authorities reviewed measures taken to strengthen the country’s ability to respond to emergencies and regional security developments.

The meeting also addressed coordination between military, security, and civilian institutions, as well as emergency preparedness, shelter plans, medical services, and the continuity of essential supplies and public services.

Sheikh Rashid highlighted the importance of cooperation between the executive and legislative branches, describing coordination among state institutions as an important element in managing crises and maintaining national preparedness.

He further stressed the importance of maintaining social cohesion and national unity during exceptional circumstances, arguing that difficult conditions should not become a source of division.

The minister’s remarks come as Bahrain continues to monitor regional developments and maintain heightened preparedness, with government officials emphasizing the protection of citizens and residents, the continuity of essential services, and coordination among state institutions.
