Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has issued a warning to citizens and residents, urging them to exercise caution when encountering stray dogs and avoid approaching or provoking them in order to reduce potential risks to public safety.

The ministry emphasized the importance of remaining alert when stray dogs are spotted, particularly near residential areas and public facilities where their presence could create safety concerns for pedestrians and residents.

Citizens and residents were advised not to approach stray dogs or attempt to provoke them, as direct interaction may increase the risk of an unwanted incident.

The ministry also stressed the importance of supervising children and taking additional care to protect elderly people when stray dogs are present in or around residential neighborhoods and public areas.

In a press statement, the Ministry of Interior urged members of the public to report locations where stray dogs are gathering so that the relevant authorities can take the necessary measures and deal with the situation using safe procedures.

Reports can be made by calling the emergency number 112, with callers asked to provide an accurate location to help the relevant authorities identify the area and respond appropriately.

The ministry’s warning comes as part of efforts to strengthen public safety and ensure that reports involving stray dogs are handled through the appropriate authorities rather than through individual intervention.

The Interior Ministry stressed that cooperation from citizens and residents can help authorities respond more efficiently to reported gatherings of stray dogs, particularly when such gatherings occur close to residential communities or public facilities.

Members of the public were therefore encouraged to avoid attempting to remove or handle stray dogs themselves and instead contact the relevant authorities when intervention is required.

The ministry also highlighted the importance of following preventive guidance and maintaining a safe distance from stray animals, especially when they appear in groups or in areas frequented by children and pedestrians.

Parents and families are encouraged to remain particularly attentive when children are outdoors in areas where stray dogs have been observed, while elderly people should also be given additional consideration.

The Interior Ministry further called on the public to provide accurate information when reporting stray dog gatherings, including the precise location, so that the relevant authorities can assess the situation and take the appropriate action.

The ministry said that public cooperation and adherence to preventive guidance can contribute to enhancing overall safety and reducing potential risks associated with stray dogs near residential areas and public facilities.

Citizens and residents are therefore urged to remain cautious, avoid approaching or provoking stray dogs, and report any gatherings through Kuwait’s emergency number 112 so that the relevant authorities can respond using safe and appropriate procedures.
